Trauma Therapy
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment designed to help children, adolescents, and their caregivers heal from the effects of trauma. While it was originally developed to address childhood trauma, the skills taught in TF-CBT are effective for many types of traumatic experiences, including abuse, neglect, domestic violence, foster care and adoption-related trauma, medical trauma, grief and loss, community violence, natural disasters, and other overwhelming life events.
How It Works
TF-CBT connects three core elements to help children heal:
Thoughts: What we think about what happened.
Feelings: The emotions and physical sensations we experience.
Actions: How we behave in response to those thoughts and feelings.
